shotahirama dot com is now closing: Please go to his new official website, SIGNALDADA.com http://www.signaldada.com shotahirama: shotahirama is a Japanese-American Sound Artist located in Tokyo, inspired by Modern Art, Dada and Bauhaus. Also known for the founding of the Edition NIkO (NIkO Label), ENG (electronoise group) and JANDEATH. His musical focus is characterized by digital synth and field recording with computer software processing and improvisation, which generates a large palette of possible sounds including; grainy textures, complex patterns of smooth drones, and microscopic clicks and cuts. Shota, as a solo artist or in other project, has released music on the following record labels: Improvised Music From Japan (Japan. CD/BOOK, 20th Dec. 2009), Re-Records (Hongkong. CDR album, coming 2010), Under The Spire Recordings (UK. CDR album, coming 2010), and net labels: TecnoNucleo (Spain. mp3 album, 2007), Alg-a (Spain. mp3 album, 2008), NTNS Radio (Netherlands. mp3 compilation, 2009). And from 2009, Shota launched a collaborative project "Giuseppe La Spada + shotahirama", with Italian Webby awards winner, Giuseppe La Spada. Known as "one of the most highly rated film-artist of the moment" -Drome Magazine. In 2008 he strengthened the collaboration with Ryuichi Sakamoto and Fennesz following the two artists with his visual comments during the tournèe Cendre. This "Giuseppe La Spada + shotahirama" will be Shota' first Sound+Film works, stay tuned for more information... 平間翔太: ダダイズムの既成の秩序や常識に対する、否定、攻撃、破壊といった思想やバウハウスに見られる合理主義的・機能主義的な芸術に強く興味を持ち、電子機材を用いたノイズコンクレート、持続音響な作品制作、またその演出、表現への応用可能性、方法を探っている電子音響家、shotahirama（平間翔太。1984年アメリカ、ニューヨーク生まれ）。ENG (electronoise group)、Edition NIkO、Deep Listening Chair Festival主宰者。 これまでの主な作品として、Improvised Music From Japanから発刊される"Improvised Music From Japan 2009"（０９年１２月２０日発売）での執筆、同じくCDへの楽曲提供、またフルアルバムとして"Unhappy American Lost in Tokyo"（香港Re-Records、CDR、１０年発売予定）、"On high in blue tomorrows"（イギリスUnder The Spire Recordings、CDR、１０年発売予定）、等その他複数（イタリアripples recordingsからのフルアルバム、香港Re-RecordsとEdition NIkOとの共作出版）の作品が控えている。またENG名義では２つのネットアルバム、"Barcelona"（スペインTecnoNucleo、mp3、０７年発売）、"Kollaps"（スペインAlg-a、mp3、０８年発売）、その他にも４曲のファイル提供と、そのリリース活動は頻繁である。 またサイドプロジェクトとして現在複数の作品が進行中。2007年にCommmons（英.Touch）よりリリースされたfennesz sakamotoの作品"cendre"そのヨーロッパツアーにフィルムアーティストとして参加し、Powerstock FestivalでのChristian Fenneszとの共演や坂本龍一主宰のStop RokkashoでのMono No Aware参加、2007年Webby AwardsにてDavid BowieやThe Beastie Boysと並び、その年唯一のイタリア人受賞者となった経歴も持つ、現在最も多くの電子音響家から支持を受けるイタリア人映像作家、Giuseppe la spada。そのGiuseppeとshotahiramaの２人で、それぞれ映像と音響を担当し新たな映像作品を制作中。 |
